Tianjin Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Institute, affiliated to Tianjin University, was a third-party testing institute founded in April 1988. The institute was accredited by China National Accreditation Laboratory (CNACL) and China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laboratory Accreditation Committee (CCIBLAC) in December 1998 and September 1999 respectively. In April 2000, Tianjin Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Institute was authorized by China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Administration to undertake product test for quality license system of exported motorcycles and safety-quality license system of imported motorcycles and engines.
In April 2001, Tianjin Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Institute was registered as independent legal entity. National Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Center (Tianjin), grown out of Tianjin Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Institute, was founded under approval of National Accreditation and Supervisory Committee in November 16, 2001.
With complete test facilities, improved test technologies, rational personnel structure and scientific management system, National Motorcycle Quality Supervisory & Testing Center (Tianjin) (hereinafter as NMTC(TJ)) is an authoritative test institute in motorcycle industry. As technical supporter of relevant national administrative departments, NMTC(TJ) is the main membership of technical group of National Development and Reformation Committee, National Accreditation and Supervisory Committee and State Environmental Protection Administration of China. NMTC (TJ) consists of Management Department, Technology Department, Test Department and Certification Department, distribution is scientific and responsibility is clear among these departments. Now NMTC(TJ) has a staff of 69 employees, including 13 senior engineers. Engineers and senior engineers contribute 51% of total employees. Covering an area of more than 3,300 m2 for test laboratories, NMTC (TJ) possesses fixed assets of 40 million RMB and has more than 400 sets of testing equipment. The lamplight testing laboratory is the first class laboratory of its kind in China, lamps of all vehicles can be tested in this laboratory. New-constructed anechoic chamber can provide standard test surroundings for EMC test. This 3 meter semi-anechoic chamber is the largest one in motorcycle industry, many tests can be performed such as test on interference sensitivity of electromagnetic radiation of mechanical & electrical products, automobiles, motorcycles and their parts. NMTC(TJ) also possesses a laboratory for high/low temperature environment. The ambient temperature of the laboratory can be controlled between -50°C~ 60°C. The laboratory can hold tens of motorcycles for test simultaneously. Occupying an area of 600,000m, a testing plant that includes a field for noise testing satisfied with the requirement of ISO 10844 was built in October 2001. This testing plant can provide 11 different roads for motorcycle research and products testing, which are capable of operational stability, comfort and ABS tests.

2. Quality supervision & testing for products ordered by government
3. Quality testing for products entrusted by enterprises at home and abroad
4. Certification of product quality and managerial system entrusted by relevant institutions
5. New products testing and authentication
6. Participating in drawing and amending relevant national standards, trade standards and technical regulations and validating various standards
7. Collecting information of development trends of testing technologies at home and abroad, researching and developing new testing technologies, testing methods and testing facilities
8. Developing international cooperation, certification, evaluation and technical exchange in the field of quality testing
9. Participating in work of ISO/TC22/SC22&SC23
The principle of NMTC(TJ) is “scientific and advanced method, high-grade and efficient service, honest and accurate conclusion”. Guided by CNAS-CL01:2006 idt ISO/IEC 17025:2005, NMTC(TJ) operate its quality system and improve it step by step, offering satisfactory services for society and clients at home and abroad and pursuing the aim of building NMTC(TJ) as a first class laboratory in the world.
Authorized testing range: quality testing for motorcycle, moped and mobility scooter; quality testing for engine of motorcycle, moped and mobility scooter and quality testing for electric motorcycle, electric bicycle, all-terrain vehicle, diesel engine, small general gasoline engine and parts.
